Security guard stabbed as moped thugs rob cash delivery at Golders Green Sainsbury's in North London

A SECURITY guard has been stabbed in the hand and leg after being robbed during a cash delivery outside a Sainsbury's this morning.

The thieves managed to make off with cash, speeding off on a moped after the snatch in north west London.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "One security guard delivering cash was robbed by three males who escaped on two mopeds with a sum of money.

"The security guard, a male aged in his 30s, was conveyed to a west London hospital with stab injury to his leg and a defence wound to his hand. At this stage his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."

The confrontation unfolded just before 11am this morning, outside the Sainsbury's on Finchley Road.

A crime scene is now in place after the Loomis guard was attacked.

A Loomis spokesperson said: "Loomis can confirm that one of their guards were injured in an attack at Golders Green earlier today, the injuries are not serious and the guard has been released from hospital.

"Loomis are supporting the Police with their ongoing investigation."

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “We can confirm there was an incident at our Golders Green store and we’re supporting the police with their investigation.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We treated a patient at the scene and took them to hospital as a priority."

Officers from Barnet BOCU, the Flying Squad and Op Vanguard at Putney are investigating.
