Irina Björklund was born as Irina Felicia Björklund on February 7, 1973, in Danderyd, Stockholm County, Sweden.

Her father's name is Felix Björklund while the name of her mother is unknown. She moved to Finland with her family where she spent her early years.

She was raised by her parents there along with her brother named Kurt Björklund. She is of Finnish nationality and belongs to mixed ethnicity.

Irina studied acting at the Theatre Academy of Finland from 1993 to 1996 and later she got a chance to work with a Swedish theatre, , in Helsinki.
